What's Actually in My Makeup Bag (No Sponsorships, Just Honesty)
Honest makeup bag essentials with no sponsorships. Real product recommendations for everyday beauty, clean ingredients, and what actually works for busy women.
Let me be brutally honest: most "what's in my makeup bag" posts are thinly veiled ads.
You know the ones. The influencer with flawless skin casually mentions 47 products, all perfectly placed with their labels facing the camera, and you're supposed to believe this is just what they naturally use every day.
Come on.
I'm not doing that. This is the real list. The products I actually reach for every single day. The ones that survive the purge when I'm cleaning out my bathroom drawer. The ones I panic-order when I'm running low because I can't function without them.
Some of these I'm an affiliate for (I'll tell you which ones). Some I'm not. Some I wish had affiliate programs because I recommend them constantly.
But every single one? I genuinely use and love.
So if you're tired of sponsored "favorites" lists and you just want to know what actually works, this one's for you.
Let's Start with the Rules
Before we dive in, here are my criteria for what makes it into my makeup bag:
- It has to multitask. I don't have space (or time) for single-use products.
- It has to blend fast. If it takes more than 30 seconds to apply, it's out.
- It has to last. I'm not reapplying makeup at noon. It needs to survive the morning chaos.
- It has to work with my fingers. Brushes are great, but I don't always have time to wash them.
- It has to feel good. I'm not using products that make my skin feel tight, greasy, or irritated.
If a product doesn't check these boxes, it doesn't make the cut — no matter how expensive or hyped it is.
Foundation: The Base That Actually Blends
I've tried so many foundations over the years. Liquid, powder, stick, cushion, you name it. And here's what I've learned:
Cream foundation is the only thing that works for me.
It blends fast, looks natural, doesn't settle into fine lines, and doesn't require brushes or sponges. I can dab it on with my fingers and be done in 60 seconds.
What I Use: Seint IIID Foundation
This is hands-down my favorite foundation. It's a cream-to-powder formula that melts into your skin and gives you buildable coverage without looking heavy.
Why I love it:
- Blends with fingers — No brushes, no mess, no extra cleanup
- Buildable coverage — Light for everyday, more coverage if I need it
- Lasts all day — Doesn't fade, doesn't get patchy
- Clean ingredients — No parabens, no sulfates, no synthetic fragrances
The only downside? It's a little pricey upfront. But one compact lasts me months, so the cost-per-use is actually pretty reasonable.
Concealer: For the Days I Actually Need It
Real talk: I don't wear concealer every day.
Most days, my foundation is enough. But on the rough mornings (read: up all night with a sick kid, or just didn't sleep well), I'll add a little concealer under my eyes.
What I Use: Seint Illuminate (Concealer + Highlighter)
This is technically a highlighting concealer, which means it brightens and covers at the same time. It's creamy, blends easily, and doesn't crease.
I use it under my eyes and in the inner corners to fake looking awake. Takes 15 seconds.
Blush: The One Thing That Makes You Look Alive
If I could only use one makeup product for the rest of my life, it would be cream blush.
Seriously. Even on days when I don't do foundation, I'll swipe on some blush. It's the difference between "I'm exhausted" and "I look fresh and awake."
What I Use: Seint HAC (Highlight & Contour) in Blush Shades
I use the HAC system from Seint, which includes blush, contour, and highlighter all in one compact. The blush shades are creamy, pigmented, and blend in seconds.
My go-to shades:
- Peachy tones for everyday (warm and natural)
- Rosy tones for a little more color (great for photos or going out)
I apply it with my fingers, blend it up toward my temples, and I'm done. No brushes, no blending sponges, no fuss.
Brows: The Frame for Your Entire Face
I learned this the hard way: your brows make or break your entire look.
You can have perfect skin, perfect blush, perfect everything — but if your brows are sparse or uneven, something feels off.
What I Use: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
This is the one product I'm not an affiliate for (sadly), but I have to include it because it's the best brow pencil I've ever used.
Why I love it:
- Ultra-fine tip — You can draw hair-like strokes that actually look natural
- Long-lasting — Doesn't smudge or fade
- Perfect color match — They have a ton of shades
I use it to fill in sparse areas, then I brush through with a tinted brow gel to set everything in place.
Brow gel I use: Honestly, any drugstore tinted brow gel works. I've used NYX, Essence, and Maybelline. They're all pretty much the same.
Lashes: The Thing That Makes You Look Awake
Even on days when I skip everything else, I wear mascara.
Mascara is non-negotiable.
It opens up your eyes, makes you look more awake, and takes 60 seconds to apply.
What I Use: L'Oréal Lash Paradise (Waterproof)
This is a drugstore mascara, and it's better than most high-end ones I've tried.
Why I love it:
- Holds a curl (the waterproof formula is key here)
- Doesn't smudge under my eyes by noon
- Adds volume without clumping
- Affordable (because I replace mascara every 3 months like you're supposed to)
I do one coat on regular days, two coats if I want a little more drama.
Lips: The Thing I Forget Most (But Love When I Remember)
I'm terrible at remembering to put on lip color. But when I do? It makes such a difference.
I don't do bold lipstick anymore (too high-maintenance). Instead, I keep tinted lip balms everywhere — in my purse, in my car, on my bathroom counter.
What I Use: Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment (Tinted)
This is another product I'm not an affiliate for, but it's worth mentioning because I've repurchased it at least 10 times.
Why I love it:
- Feels like a balm, looks like a lipstick — Hydrating but with actual color
- Lasts for hours — I don't have to reapply constantly
- Comes in beautiful shades — My go-to is "Rose" (a soft, natural pink)
If I'm being honest, most days I use whatever tinted balm I have on hand (Burt's Bees, eos, Glossier Balm Dotcom). They all work. The key is just to use something.
My Actual Everyday Makeup Routine (Using These Products)
Here's what a typical morning looks like:
- Apply face oil
- Dab on foundation with fingers
- Add concealer under eyes if needed
- Swipe on cream blush
- Fill in brows
- Apply mascara
- Swipe on tinted lip balm
Total time: 5-7 minutes.
That's it. That's the routine. No contouring, no highlighting, no baking, no setting. Just fast, natural, done.
Why I'm Sharing This
Because I'm tired of fake "favorites" lists.
I'm tired of influencers pretending they "just love" 10 different mascaras (all sponsored).
I'm tired of feeling like I need 47 products to look "put together."
You don't need that many products. You need a few good ones that actually work for your life.
So this is my real list. The products I'd recommend to my best friend. The ones I'd buy even if I wasn't an affiliate. The ones that make getting ready in the morning feel easy instead of overwhelming.
If even one of these products makes your routine easier, I'll consider this post a win.
